Phycocyanin is a porphyrin pigment protein, CAS No. 11016-15-2, molecular weight of about 30-50kDa, composed of α and β subunits, with the following characteristics:
Structural features: Contains phycocyanobilin, which is unique to cyanobacteria, with a wide absorption spectrum range (maximum absorption peak at 620nm), and a fluorescence intensity 30 times that of ordinary fluorescein.
Physical and chemical properties:
Water solubility: Easily soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol and oil, stable at pH 4.5-8, strong acid or strong alkali easily causes precipitation or decolorization.
Thermosensitivity: It is easy to be inactivated at high temperature (>60℃) and needs to be stored at low temperature (2-8℃).
