Citrus aurantium (Scientific name: Fructus Aurantii Immaturus) is the dried unripe fruit of Citrus aurantium or Citrus sinensis, a plant of the Rutaceae family. Citrus aurantium extract is a concentrate of active ingredients separated from its peel or whole fruit by modern extraction technology (such as ethanol reflux), and is mainly used in the fields of traditional Chinese medicine, health products and functional foods.

Hesperidin is a natural flavanone glycoside compound with the molecular formula C₂₈H₃₄O₁₅, and is a core component of the vitamin P family. Its structure is composed of hesperetin and rutinose connected by glycosidic bonds. It is mainly found in the peel, white membrane and seeds of citrus fruits (such as oranges, lemons, and grapefruits), and is one of the main sources of citrus bitterness.

Vascular protection
Enhance capillary toughness: Reduce vascular permeability by inhibiting hyaluronidase activity (clinically used to treat varicose veins and congestion dermatitis).
Anti-atherosclerosis: Downregulate LOX-1 receptor expression and inhibit oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) deposition (Atherosclerosis 2018 study).
Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory
Scavenging free radicals: chelating metal ions, blocking the chain reaction of hydroxyl radicals (·OH), with an ORAC value of 3200 μmol TE/g.
Regulating NF-κB pathway: inhibiting the expression of COX-2 and iNOS, and alleviating chronic inflammation (such as rheumatoid arthritis).
