    Description:

    Lotus leaf extract contains the lotus alkaloids which has strong effect on lowering the 

    blood pressure, and it has become popular to lower blood cholesterol ,treat fatty liver 

    and promote blood circulation.

    The leaf extract and decoction showed direct vaso- dilatation action and moderate hypotensive effect on

     experimental animals. Crystal liensinine isolated from the dried plumule of ripened seeds showed

     transient hypotensive effect and strong and prolonged action when changed into n-methyl-dendronbium

     while the non-crystal alkaloid Nn-9 had stronger hypo- tensive action with tachyphylaxis. The dried lotus

     stamen showed antibac-terial effect. Actions and Indications: Lotus Leaf is used as hemo- static, blood p

     urifying; for the treatment of diarrhea, hematemesis, epistaxis,hematochezia, abnormal uterine bleeding
